Cricket debuts on iPhone
Perth, Australia — December 24, 2008 — New Western Australian game studio Spinfast has released the first official cricket game for the iPhone. Spinfast Cricket (http://www.spinfast.com.au/cricket) allows players to take to the crease in games ranging from a quick one over, to a hefty 50-over match, and takes advantage of the iPhone's capabilities with an innovative gesture stroke control system. Besides being the first cricket game for iPhone, this release also marks the debut for Spinfast, the second studio to be launched in Perth by Interzone founder Robert Spencer. As Spinfast's founder and CEO says, "I'm amazed that we haven't seen a cricket game before on the iPhone — the sport is massive — but I'm very proud that it's our game that's setting the bar." This release of the game focuses on the glamourous side of the game: batting. But Spencer says that we should look for Spinfast's cricket offerings to expand in the future. "One of the beautiful things about the App Store as a distribution platform is that it's relatively easy to update, meaning that we can move pretty quickly to add new features or refine rough edges. We expect to add bowling in shortly, and to keep expanding the game to make it better and more immersive. "In fact, this iPhone game began as a prototype to test our technology and systems, but it just developed such a nice feel to it that we decided to dig in, refactor the code and develop it into something we could share with the wider cricket community. We're looking forward to hearing what our customers think."
About Spinfast
Spinfast is an exciting new Australian game development house, gathering talent from around the country into their Perth studio. The team is deliberately small and sprightly, with experience that belies its jaunty step and sparkling eyes. Spinfast draws on talent filtered through Aussie game companies like MicroForte, Big World, Red Tribe, FuzzyEyes, Silver Lightning and Interzone, as well as international developer Matahari Studios.
