Take the Ballpark with You Spinfast's Baseball '09 allows players to hit one out of the park or throw heat anywhere you can take your iPhone or iTouch. It combines 3D graphics and TV-style presentation with simple but elegant controls. In batting, for example, one swipe of the finger defines every aspect of a swing including power, timing, left-right ball placement and elevation of the hit. This gives players a simple interface will plenty of room for mastery, as well as rewarding real-world baseball know-how. Building on this system, players can also make key offensive decisions by spurring their teammates to run or stay on any borderline plays allowing them to eking out extra runs or protect their outs. In defence, players step up to the mound and try to select the perfect pitch to tackle each of the opposing batter's weaknesses, accepting the catcher's recommendations or shaking them off for something a little more daring. Do you play it safe keeping your pitches solidly in the strike zone or do you flirt with the edges and try to lure swings out of the more excitable batters? While your AI-controlled fielders back each other up, cut off throws from the outfield and lock in for the squeeze play, they are not superhuman and occasionally rack up errors, bumbling tricky catches and overthrowing the odd tough out.
