Felicity Groom and the Black Black Smoke

Felicity Groom and the Black Black Smoke formed in 2006 after Felicity Groom returned from a stint in London. The band is a smooth five-piece outfit based in Perth, Western Australia.

Triple J radio host Dom Alessio describes the band as having, “emotive and emotional vocals reminiscent of PJ Harvey set above slinky, dirty blues rock,” while Bob Gordon of Xpress Magazine describes Groom's songs as possessing a beguiling presence and “darkness without dreariness, country without cows and sensitive without sookiness.”

Groom developed her skills touring Paris, London and Dublin, before returning to Perth and teaming with an eclectic team of seasoned performers from local bands including Jebediah, The Kill Devil Hills and Adam Said Galore.

The group released its Treasures EP in 2009, and is recording a full album for launch later this year. It has been showcased on Australia's youth and indie radio station Triple J as the featured artist of the week and won a WAMi Award for Best Indie Pop Act.

Sal Masekela presents Spinfast Snowboard features two songs from the band: Treasures and 39 Ways To Leave Your Lover.
